Science: “Scientists exposed plants to a yearlong drought, experiment reveals the tolls on plant growth”

Osvaldo Sala of Arizona State University, Tempe partnered with Richard Phillips from the University of Indiana, Bloomington, and Melinda Smith of Colorado State University to tackle the intersection of climate change and applied drought studies, presenting findings at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Montreal. Science recently published an article on this study and its impact. Dr. Sala and his peers have been working to find a standardized procedure for mimicking droughts.  As they’ve tackled the multi-layered implications of drought data, attention has been brought to how weather effects and carbon storage work together.
